About the Schema Markup Generator

The Schema Markup Generator writes JSON-LD structured data for FAQ, Article, Product, Local Business, Organization, Breadcrumb, Event, Person and WebSite pages. Each form marks the properties Google lists as required or recommended for its rich result, checks URLs, numbers, dates and opening hours as you type, and produces a ready-to-paste <script type="application/ld+json"> tag.

Files and tags are generated in your browser; nothing you enter, including unpublished URLs and titles, is sent to a server.

How to use the Schema Markup Generator

  1. Choose the schema type that matches what the page shows.
  2. Fill in the fields; required ones are marked with *, and the checks below the code list anything missing or malformed.
  3. Copy the script into the page, then confirm it with Google's Rich Results Test before publishing.

Common mistakes

  • Marking up content that is not on the page. Structured data must describe what visitors can see. Ratings, prices or FAQs that exist only in the JSON-LD break Google's guidelines and can lead to a manual action.
  • Self-serving review stars. Google does not show star ratings for reviews a business writes about itself on its own Organization or LocalBusiness page.
  • Dates without time zones. Event and article times without an offset (such as +05:30) can show at the wrong hour. Always include the zone.

Frequently asked questions

Is JSON-LD better than microdata?

Google recommends JSON-LD because it sits in one script block, separate from the HTML, so it is easier to add and maintain. Search engines read all three formats (JSON-LD, microdata and RDFa).

Does schema markup improve rankings?

Not directly. It makes a page eligible for rich results (stars, prices, breadcrumbs, event dates) and helps search engines and AI answers understand it, which can raise click-through rates.

Can a page have more than one schema type?

Yes. A product page can have Product and BreadcrumbList markup, for example. Add one script tag per type, or combine them in an @graph array.
