About the Split PDF

Split PDF breaks one PDF into several smaller files: every page on its own, fixed-size parts such as every 2 pages, or custom ranges like 1-3, 4-10, 11- for chapters and sections. The page previews show which file each page goes into before you split. Pages are copied without redrawing, so quality is unchanged.

PDFs are processed in your browser with pdf-lib and PDF.js, so contracts, invoices and scans never leave your device.

How to use the Split PDF

  1. Drop a PDF onto the box or choose a file.
  2. Choose Single pages, Every N pages, or Custom ranges and type the ranges.
  3. Check the previews: each page is labelled with the file it goes into.
  4. Click Split PDF, then download each part or all of them as a ZIP.

Common mistakes

  • Typing printed page numbers. Ranges count the pages of the file from 1, not the numbers printed on them. A book whose page "1" is the fifth page of the PDF needs 5- to start there; the previews show the real numbers.
  • Splitting to get under a size limit. Splitting divides the size between the parts but does not shrink the pages. If each part must be small, compress the PDF first.

Frequently asked questions

How do I write custom ranges?

Separate files with commas. "1-3, 4-10, 11-" makes three files: pages 1 to 3, 4 to 10, and 11 to the end. A single number such as 5 makes a one-page file.

Can a page go into more than one file?

Yes. Ranges may overlap, for example 1-5, 5-10, which is handy when a section starts mid-page. Pages you leave out of every range are skipped.

Does splitting reduce quality?

No. Each part contains the original pages, copied exactly, with text still selectable.

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. Splitting happens in your browser, and the parts are saved to your device.
