About the Search Console Analyzer
The Search Console Analyzer turns a Google Search Console performance export into a list of things to do. Drop the ZIP from Export → Download CSV and it finds queries ranking on positions 5–20 with real demand, page-one queries whose click-through rate is far below what your site normally gets at that position, question searches to answer, and (with query + page data) pages competing for the same query. Expected CTRs come from your own data, and the files never leave your browser.
Your Search Console export is unpacked and analysed in your browser. It is never uploaded, and closing the tab discards it.
How to use the Search Console Analyzer
- In Search Console open Performance → Search results, pick a date range (3 months is a good start), then Export → Download CSV.
- Drop the ZIP here (or the Queries.csv and Pages.csv files), or try the sample data first.
- Add your brand name to separate branded searches, and raise the minimum impressions to hide the long tail.
- Work through Positions 5–20 and Low CTR, then download each list as CSV for your content plan.
Common mistakes
- Short date ranges. A week of data is noisy. Use at least 28 days, ideally 3 months, so positions and CTRs settle.
- Chasing every low-CTR query. Some queries are answered on the results page itself (definitions, conversions, weather). A low CTR there is normal; focus on queries where your page is the answer.
- Comparing average position across queries. Average position is an impression-weighted average of the top position your site had. A page can rank 3 for one query and 40 for another; judge queries one by one.
Works well with the Search Console Analyzer
- SERP Preview Tool: rewrite titles for the low-CTR queries.
- Keyword Generator: expand a promising query into more ideas.
- Website SEO Checker: audit the page that ranks on page two.
Frequently asked questions
Why does the export only have 1,000 queries?
The Search Console interface exports at most 1,000 rows per table. For more, use the Search Console API, Looker Studio or the bulk data export to BigQuery, and drop the resulting CSV here: any file with query or page, clicks, impressions, CTR and position columns works.
Are my files uploaded?
No. The ZIP is unpacked and analysed by JavaScript in your browser tab. Nothing is sent to our server, and closing the tab discards it.
What does "Extra clicks" mean?
An estimate of the clicks a row would get at your site's own typical CTR for the target position, minus the clicks it already gets. Use it to rank the opportunities, not as a forecast.
