About the Barcode Generator

Barcode Generator creates printable 1D barcodes: Code 128 for shipping and inventory labels, EAN-13 and UPC-A for retail products, EAN-8 for small packages and Code 39 for older systems. Check digits are calculated for you and wrong ones are flagged. Download a sharp PNG or a scalable SVG for labels and print.

Everything is generated in your browser; nothing you enter is uploaded, and anything random comes from a cryptographically secure source.

How to use the Barcode Generator

  1. Choose the barcode type.
  2. Enter the value; for EAN and UPC, leave out the check digit and it is added.
  3. Adjust the bar width, height, colours and the text under the bars.
  4. Download the PNG or SVG.

Frequently asked questions

Can I make my own EAN-13 barcode for a product?

You can draw any valid EAN-13 here, but retailers and marketplaces only accept numbers issued to your company by GS1 (GS1 India in India). Use the number GS1 gives you, then generate the barcode.

Which barcode type should I use?

Code 128 for internal labels, shipping and inventory (letters and digits, compact). EAN-13 or UPC-A for products sold in shops. Code 39 only when an older system requires it.

PNG or SVG?

SVG scales to any size without blurring, so it is best for print and design tools. The PNG is rendered at three times the preview size, sharp enough for most labels.

Why won't my barcode scan?

Keep the white margin (quiet zone) on both sides, print dark bars on a light background, and avoid stretching the image unevenly. Very small bar widths need a good printer.
