About the Circle Crop

Circle Crop cuts a round area out of a photo or logo and saves it as a PNG with a transparent background, ready for profile pictures, team pages and avatars. Drag and resize the circle over the face, add an optional border, and pick a size of 256, 512 or 1024 pixels. The image is processed in your browser.

Images are processed in your browser with its built-in codecs, so your photos and screenshots are never uploaded.

How to use the Circle Crop

  1. Drop a photo or logo onto the box, paste it, or choose a file.
  2. Drag the circle over the part to keep and resize it from a handle.
  3. Choose the output size, an optional border and a transparent or coloured background.
  4. Click Download PNG.

Frequently asked questions

Why is the result a PNG?

PNG keeps transparency, so the corners outside the circle stay see-through on any background. JPEG has no transparency and would fill them with a colour; choose the coloured background option if you need that.

What size should a profile picture be?

512 × 512 px suits most sites and apps, which scale it down for display. Use 1024 for high-resolution screens or print, and 256 when a small file matters.

Does LinkedIn or WhatsApp need a round image?

No. They crop square photos into circles themselves. A round PNG is useful when you place the picture yourself: on a website, in a slide or in an email signature.

Is my photo uploaded?

No. The crop is drawn on a canvas in your browser and the PNG is saved straight to your device.
